Dr. Nakamura Tomizo

Abstract
Nakamura Tomizo was bron in Nigata-ke, Japan in 1867, and died in Pyeongyang, Korea in 1931. In 1903, he was sent to Pyeongyang, as an official doctor of Japan. In 1906, he opened pyeongyang Dongin Hospital with the help of Dozinkai that was established for assisting the invasion of japan to East Asia. Even though the hospital was sold to Chosun Government-General in 1910, he continued to work there till he died. His two sons also worked in Pyeongyang as doctors to succeed his father¡¯s work.
This essay is based on the interview with Iida Miyuki, a daughter of Nakamura Tomizo, and Nakamura Taizo, a grandson of Nakamura Tomizo.
